Cedar City Entertainment

Entertainment in Cedar City and its communities center around the festivals. In fact, Cedar City is also known as Festival City USA.

The city is home of the Tony Award Winning Utah Shakespearean Festival. Each summer several of the Bard's plays are professionally produced at The Adams Shakespearean Theatre, which is close to the original design of Shakespeare's Old Globe Theater.

At the same location, The Randall L. Jones Theatre and The Auditorium Theatre are venues for contemporary theatre productions.

Each year, Utah's Neil Simon Festival presents some of Simon's outstanding plays at Cedar City's Heritage Center. The Heritage Center is also the venue for the Fall Music Arts Festival featuring local and internationally known musicians and the Children's Christmas Festival which begins its holiday events on Thanksgiving and includes a Christmas Parade and professionally produced theater events.

Of course, each community also has its own, local celebrations and festivals. You'll find a 4th of July Parade or a Veteran's Memorial, or school and church carnivals everywhere in the area.

Entertainment isn't, of course, limited to festivals. The Cedar City Heritage Hall offers a professional concert series each year, as does the Orchestra of Southern Utah (OSU) provides classical music performances for Southern Utah. The Master Singers, A Southern Utah Favorite, have been performing throughout the state since 1947.

Many hotels and lounges in the area offer live entertainment, often with local performers.

Family and church activities are a major focus in the area, so it's not surprising to find lots of school and church sponsored entertainment during the year.
