It's unclear exactly how Brian Head got its name. One story tells that the original Brian was a geologist; others insist the area was named after William Jennings Bryan, presidential candidate. It is clear, however that since the area is actually a headland of the Markagunt Plateau, it comes by the second half of its name quite naturally.
